Sometimes a class begins long before I step onto the dance floor. This one began during the recent heatwave.

Like many of you, I noticed how my body responded to the intense temperatures. It slowed down. It asked for more pauses, more shade, more water… and less effort.

My first reaction was, of course, to negotiate with it. “Come on… you should still be able to do this.” But little by little, another question emerged:

What if the body isn’t giving up?
What if it is simply asking for a wiser way of moving?

That question stayed with me.

It also met another very familiar part of myself — the one that likes to be efficient, capable, sometimes even a little too determined.

For this exploration, I found myself drawn to the belly. To the quiet world of our organs. They never stop working, yet they never seem to hurry. They don’t strive or perform. They simply do what needs to be done, moment after moment, sustaining life with remarkable intelligence.
There is something I can learn from them.

Then my eyes rested on a mobile hanging in our home.
It doesn’t become limp or collapse. It remains beautifully structured, yet it no longer resists. Every element responds to the slightest movement, each one naturally finding its place in response to the gentlest breath of air.

What happens when we stop holding more than we need to?
Can movement become lighter without becoming smaller?
Can we move fully while using only the effort that is truly needed?

A tree doesn’t push its branches to grow faster.
A cat doesn’t spend energy it doesn’t need.
Water doesn’t force its way forward; it finds its way.
Perhaps we, too, can rediscover that wisdom.

I don’t know where this exploration will lead us.
I simply know that, right now, it feels like exactly the dance I need.
Perhaps it is one you need, too.
