Vector

Vector is the ability to move with intention and direction, aligning our energy with what we truly want. In life, it’s easy to lose our way—unsure of what the next step should be or following paths laid out by others. Vector helps us reconnect with our inner compass, giving us clarity to know where we are, where we want to go, and how to get there.
Exploring vector in movement brings us closer to the act of manifesting our deepest desires. Whether it’s making decisions, pursuing goals, or aligning with our values, vector provides the focus and power to move forward, even in the face of uncertainty or obstacles. It encourages us to transform stress and hesitation into purposeful action.
In this class, we will explore vector through embodied movement, harnessing our personal capacity to direct our energy with purpose and intention. By strengthening this resource, we gain confidence not only in our dance but in our everyday choices, making vector a tool for living a more aligned and empowered life.
Some poetry to inspire you?
It Couldn’t Be Done
by Edgar Albert Guest
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it”;
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.
The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Come and join us on a common floor and in a common dance!
Good music is going to support us in our explorations.
