The Atlas of the Heart:
Places we go when life is good: Joy!

René Brown writes that joy is the most vulnerable human emotion.
“No emotion is more frightening than joy, because we believe if we allow ourselves to feel joy, we are inviting disaster. We start dress-rehearsing tragedy in the best moments of our lives in order to stop vulnerability from beating us to the punch. But there’s a huge cost: When we push away joy, we squander the goodness that we need to build resilience, strength and courage.”

Joy is sudden, it’s unexpected, it’s short-lasting and high-intensity. And even though it’s short-lasting, our body remembers and we can “capture” these moments and they can feed us when things don’t go well.

I am convinced that dreaming is a way of finding joy!
Embodied dreaming is a resource.
We need our dreams whatever they might be and however different and multi-faceted they might be.

And sometimes we might get confused or overwhelmed, so we hesitate to dream…
Let us dare to dream, to feel joy, let us embody our dreams and our joy, knowing that:

THE CENTER will hold!
if, and only if, we can feel the edges!

Once we are centered, we may trust!
Remember what we danced these last Saturdays:
Center is a conversation, it’s constantly moving. We get off center, we get in again, we get off, we get in!
That’s the conversation Brené Brown invites us to.

Come and join us in a common dance on a common floor!
Good music is going to support us in our explorations
