Inspired by Brené Brown’s recent book “Atlas of the Heart”, I will open the new year on a series of classes where we will focus on emotions.
Joy, fear, anger, sadness, anxiousness, love, shame, guilt, compassion eg., all these are emotions we know AND we are often not able to
- Recognize and name them
- Move them
- make the connection between our feelings, thinking and behavior
Sometimes we do everything to ignore them. And sometimes we do everything to numb them. We take the edges off, “sharp edges that feel vulnerable, but they are the markers that let us know where we end and others begin” (Brené Brown)
When we dance in a safe space, when we move amongst others that are searching like us, for presence and awareness, we might dare to be aware to embody and befriend these emotions. Also, those that we might like less!
This safe place will be our lab!
We will meet and set our boundaries, we’ll put on and honor the edges that we might so often prefer to take off, knowing that this is a never-ending learning process.
In this exploration and learning process, CENTER is going to be our constant resource.

CENTER is going to be the “fil rouge”, the Ariadne’s thread in our next Saturday morning classes .
And while we will move through different kinds of emotions, other resources that Open Floor practice offers us will help us stay true, honest and daring!
Brené Brown writes that naming an emotion or experience is essential to being able to process it in a healing manner. We will invite our bodies to name and to show up. Movement, dance is going to be our language. I’m looking forward to discover the Atlas of our hearts.
