MOVING IN UNCERTAIN TIMES 4

All of us go through periods that seem particularly arduous, painful, stressful. Sometimes we have the impression that life is too demanding, that we can’t see the forest for the trees, that we are loosing our ground and centre.
Sometimes values and people that we could rely on seem far away, references that we could trust in seem like vanished. But was true yesterday, isn’t true today anymore. We loose confidence, courage. A future that we were trusting in becomes uncertain and threatening…

In these phases, the practice of conscious movement reveals itself as being a powerful resource.

Moving in uncertain times is going to be a sequence of 6 Open Floor classes.
We will use the resources that our practice has to offer us, resources that we have been exploring during the last months. And we will start with breath…

The Mind in movement

We cannot move the body without touching the heart, activating thoughts, and expressing through our unique soulfulness. In conscious movement practice we want to wholly inhabit our entire selves.

And yet! Often on a dance floor we wish to stop our mind activity, to « forget about » thinking, judging, worrying and ruminating.

Especially in uncertain times, our minds tend to get over activated. We think, worry, judge and ruminate maybe more then ever. Our minds might keep us tight and frozen and we get stuck.
But if we start to let us be moved by the mind, we can discover that it is a vibrant, fully alive dancer embodying a rich source of intriguing choreography that provides us with fuel for creative movement, exploration, and healing.

Being mindful means to be aware of our thoughts and get conscious of how they influence our movement, means to be able to dance the energy and texture of our thoughts.

« A key outcome in working with the mind is the ability to trust in not knowing – or not knowing yet. A mover can use their embodied experience to help ground and stabilize the workings of their mind for the many times we are uncertain, insecure, in-between, or faced with the reality of never truly knowing what will happen next »

A thought might create an emotion which creates an unknown shape… a new dance, a new outcome…

Let’s dare to trust in the unknown this Saturday and make our minds dance!
