EXPAND & CONTRACT

Sometimes we are confined in space and yet don’t want to lose our freedom and range of physical expression. Can we regulate our movement to fit situation and yet don’t feel narrowed and constricted?

Sometimes we are constrained by emotions like fear, anxiety or grief. We shut down, go inside and almost disappear. Can we find movement in there? Can we create the inside dance that might help us to move beyond, to expand and to get out of an isolation that in fact we haven’t chosen?

And sometimes we would so much love to travel in our secret garden, cherish the inner landscape, but do not find the way to escape from outside, to be less extroverted and regulate ourselves. Can we step back, focus on the inside, keep it small and enjoy the taste of intimacy, quietness with ourselves.

And, resourced by our inner « Zen garden », can we expand again, openheartedly, and reach out to what and whom we meet out there?

We can use the body to express emotional sensations in a small, in acontained way, and then give them wide-open expression, then pull back in again. In all these movements, we are learning to put our own hand on the dial as we increase and decrease our range of expression

Whether we expand or contract, what really matters is to stay in movement and to fluidly circulate from outside to inside and inside to outside

Come and join us on a common floor and in a common dance!
Good music is going to support us in our explorations.
