February 24th 2024 at Helen’s dance

10.00-11.30
104 Av. Victor Hugo, 1750 Luxembourg

Almost 2 weeks back from an Open Floor Immersion in Austria. Immersion into the journey, the travel, immersion into the mountain scenery, immersion into my ‘self’ immersion into a community of committed dancers, immersion into my body, immersion into the realm of spirit and soul…

What was revived and what I bring back from this trip is above all the feeling of wonder and awe.
And during the week I was back, I kept discovering things, people and incidents around me that surprised, stunned and touched me, and things that left me speechless with awe.

Little things, like the crocuses and snowdrops that break through the turf every year, despite the harshness of the changing climate.
Or a TV programme on the life of a 200-year-old cactus, which has been home to generations of small animals throughout its existence.
Or the near-perfect flight formation of migrating wild geese.
Or the serene face of a sleeping baby, far away from all the cruelty and misfortune shaking the world.
Or the sparkling eyes of a small child, wriggling with joy at a successful puzzle or Lego construction.
Or the purity, depth and penetrating emotion of the voice of Yun Sun Nah, a voice that seems to come from beyond and touches my soul…

In her Atlas of the Heart, Brené Brown writes:
Even seeing things we may fail to notice on a regular basis, like a starry sky or a butterly in the garden, can stop us in our tracks on occasion. Both awe-inspiring events and the experiences that leave us filled with wonder often make us feel small compared to our expansive universe. Small, but connected to each other and to the largeness itself.

This is what inspires me for our Saturday morning class this week
Let us be surprised, let us wonder, let us be in awe, let us be creative.
Our bodies themselves are already worthy of awe!
Our dances are worthy of awe!
Our community is worthy of awe!
