Ground – Finding Our Place in the World

“Gravity repeatedly tells us, ‘I have a place for you: it is called here.'”
Susan Harper
Ground is our ongoing conversation with gravity. It is more than just feeling our weight—it is a relationship with the force that holds us, supports us, and reminds us that we belong.
Often, we think of gravity as something that pulls us down, but what if we saw it differently? What if gravity wasn’t a weight to carry but a force that gives us a place? A place that we don’t need to fight for, but one that is already ours.
Part of being grounded is making the choice to really show up. Sometimes we hold back—we hesitate to take up space, to claim our presence, to fully arrive. But grounding is not just about standing on the earth; it is about standing in ourselves.
Grounding is not just about physical weight—it’s about presence, substance, and dignity. When we truly settle into ourselves, we don’t just stand—we arrive. We embrace our full weight—not just in our bodies, but in who we are.
This class will be an exploration of how we meet the ground, how we let it support us, and how we stand with the fullness of our being.
How surely gravity’s law,
Strong as an ocean current,
Takes hold of even the smallest thing
And pulls it toward the heart of the world . . .
That is what the thing can teach us;
To fall Patiently
to trust Our heaviness
Rainer Maria Rilke
Come and join us on a common floor and in a common dance!
