MOVING TOWARDS AND AWAY
I’ve just spent a few day’s vacation in Germany, where I had the chance to delight in Jazz music. Above all, I was once again impressed by the amazing connection between these musicians, who engage very often in improvisation. Trust and generosity are the basis of this orchestrated practice. Is it a paradox? Orchestration and improvisation? Structure and freedom?
For co-creation to succeed, these artists have to listen to each other, reach out to each other, while allowing each other the freedom necessary for improvisation and creativity.
What I’ve seen here is real dance: moving towards each other, playing together, moving away, improvising. Leaving space for the other. Daring to go towards others, letting them come to you and, at the same time, daring to move away and let them go.
This is the dance I’d like to invite us to this Saturday: Explore moving towards and away from.
Embodying our curiosity and impulse to reach out, exploring the space between that we need in the encounter and allowing ourselves to move away.
Make a dance of it…
And above all, stay true. Be aware of what we want: for our YES to the encounter or to the departure to be a wholehearted YES! And for our NO to the encounter to be a kind, non-judgmental NO.
