Towards and Away
The courage to choose!

We are almost always moving towards or away from something: a feeling, a place, repetitive thoughts, pleasure, and most often, other people.

Sometimes we move towards something or someone, just so we can move away from something else
Sometimes we move away from something or someone, without knowing where we’re moving next.
Sometimes we don’t know where we’re moving and we don’t realize what we’ve moved away from…
Sometimes we rush towards something rather than moving towards something
Sometimes we run away rather than move away.

Towards and away is the primary continuum of the relational dance
Mindfully practicing the dance of towards and away, we learn to actively and honestly choose to go towards or away from anybody or anything. Even when it feels as if there is no choice but to move towards something painful, or we habitually move away from the possibility of true intimacy, this practice is a big first step towards awareness and shifting long-term patterns.

There is a question of choice here.
And making choices takes courage. It takes courage to ask questions honestly and to act and move accordingly.
What part of us helps us to make wise choices: Body, heart, mind or soul?
