September 30th 2023 at Helen’s dance

Some of us will probably wonder why I have chosen Pause for this Saturday morning class.. We used to explore this resource mostly before holidays, isn’t it?
Well, this class is inspired by what I wrote two weeks ago. Remember? I wrote that I’ve noticed that after a few weeks of holiday, rest and calm, we quickly return to the rhythm of our often hectic, ultra-fast daily lives. Maybe this isn’t the case for everyone, but for many of us it ‘starts again’ quite quickly and we fall back into patterns we’d often like to avoid.

Pause is about listening. Listening to what is inside ourselves, listening to what is outside. It is quieting our movement, the one on the dance floor, the one on the big floor outside:
Pause is a very alive state, it is giving a chance to what we might miss when we are following the main stream without asking ourselves what we are actually doing.
Pause is discovering hidden beauties, delicious fragrances and unexpected sounds. Pause is getting aware of wellness or pain in our body. Pause is unpredictable

When we dance, we become creative. Each dance is unique, each dance is ephemeral, it is the truth of the moment. This dance opens us to unexpected experiences. Sometimes this is what we are most afraid of.

When we pause, we don’t know what will happen next. But by disrupting our habitual behaviors, we open to the possibility of new and creative ways of responding to our wants and fears. Through the sacred art of pausing, we develop the capacity to stop hiding, to stop running away from our experience. We begin to trust in our natural intelligence, in our naturally wise heart, in our capacity to open to whatever arises.
