“We do not ‘have’ a body; we are our body.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh

This Saturday we return to a powerful practice that is very dear to me:
the Meditation Cycle.

Many of you already know this simple and profound structure — sitting, walking, moving — and the quiet rhythm it creates.

The body awareness we have been cultivating in our Bare Bones explorations becomes a quiet companion here, allowing this meditation cycle to be lived from the inside — through breath, weight, gravity, and sensation.

At the heart of this practice lies a small but powerful word: just.

Just sit.
Just walk.
Just move.

Nothing to achieve. Nothing to improve. Nothing to perform.

Simply sitting, sensing the body breathing.
Simply walking, feeling the ground meeting the feet.
Simply moving, allowing the body to respond to music and silence alike.

In Bare Bones we have been paying close attention to the physical body — bones, muscles, breath, gravity. Yet the body is never isolated. When we listen carefully to what is happening physically, other dimensions naturally begin to move as well: emotions, thoughts, inner states we might call spirit or presence.

The body becomes the doorway. And through that doorway, many aspects of our experience are quietly invited to appear.

And again and again, the practice brings us back to something very simple: this moment.
The breath that is happening now.
The body that is here now.
The step that touches the ground now.

We will repeat this cycle several times. Each return is an invitation to rediscover the ordinary gestures that shape our lives: sitting, walking, moving — the quiet architecture of our days.

Again and again we return to the body:
to bones meeting gravity,
to breath moving through space,
to movement arising from sensation.

Sometimes the most essential explorations are the simplest ones.
