Sometimes, the moment we truly let go doesn’t come from within us alone.

Sometimes, it begins with the simplest of gestures: a hand held.

Children reach out for hands when they feel unsure, needing safety and comfort. Lovers hold hands to feel close. And yet, as adults in daily life, we often forget that this tender contact can be a way to soften, to trust, to release.

In our Open Floor practice, Release is a skill we develop — the ability to yield to gravity, to rest, to let tension dissolve. It’s something we cultivate inside ourselves. But there are moments when the presence of another — a grounded hand, a warm shoulder, a gentle breath beside us — reminds us how much we carry, and how much we long to set it down.

Sometimes, the body only dares to let go when it feels safe enough. And sometimes, that safety is felt most deeply in relationship.

This week in class, we will explore Release — not just as an individual experience, but as something that may be sparked, supported, or deepened by the presence of another.

What happens when we allow ourselves to be held — even for a moment?
What softens when we stop holding everything alone?

Let this be an invitation to rest into support.
To trust your weight.
To breathe a little deeper.
To remember that letting go is not weakness — it is wisdom.
