10.00-11.30

What am I opting for, what am I committing myself to, what is my direction?
If we want to be aware of how our lives are going, if we want to care about our environment, if we want our society to be fairer and if we care about the future of generations to come then we must somehow make decisions, choose a direction and stay true to ourselves within the community in which we live.

We can ask ourselves these questions in all areas of our personal and/or professional lives.
What is essential in our mindfulness dance practice is that our social, political and philosophical reflections take shape, that they are expressed through and in the body.

The resource that the Open Floor practice offers us for this purpose is Vector.

Vector is the ability to turn the potency of our movement in a specific, intentional direction: to move here not there, now not later, right not left. Working with a vector means we choose to establish a certain direction or quality (or follow a direction that is already happening). We can bring our forces to bear with clarity and intention in a single direction, whether our movement is intense, chaotic, soft or subtle. The same applies to focusing and following a particular energy, emotion or thought.

Embodying this key resource, feeling it in every fibre of the body, in the breath, in the muscles, in our skin, is what we’ll be practising and exploring this Saturday.
